Why Choose Catalina Material Handling:

We have provided and installed warehouse racking structures to many customers in the Southern California market and throughout the Unites States.  Catalina Material Handling approaches every opportunity of designing your facility as a collaborative effort, where we are learning about your distribution challenges and day to day requirements. Once we understand this, our team can explain and demonstrate solutions based on your budget and expectations.

The Desired Solution:

In their new building, in Long Beach, CA, CMH provided onsite project management with real-time updates via the internet and on mobile devices.  This allowed HydraFacial to oversee their 105,004 sq. ft. building while their racking was being installed.

The installation of the approved design was given within a 30-day window, which lead to securing inspections and approvals for the permits from the City of Long Beach.  CMH worked closely with the city on plan approvals and inspections to make the comprehensive plan for racking installation possible.

The Results:

  • Implemented customer-designed racking layout
  • Incorporated selective and pallet flow racking
  • Comprehensive plan included warehouse equipment, line painting, fencing, and fire prevention devices
  • CMH teamed up with a videographer to create a video of the installation

The Desired Solution:

In their new building, in Long Beach, CA, CMH provided onsite project management with real-time updates via the internet and on mobile devices. This allowed Traffic Tech to oversee their 204,936 sq. ft. building while the racking was being installed and for their product load in.

Traffic Tech had racking being relocated from two different buildings while the new building wasn’t fully operational. CMH incorporated a multi-phase approach to install the new racking first and then systematically relocating racking from the other buildings. The finished design was tailored to Traffic Tech’s unique requirements.

The Results:

About Boot Barn:

Boot Barn started over 30 years ago with one store in Orange County, California.  They have become the nation’s largest Western and Work retailer with more than 240 stores in over 30 states and a strong e-commerce business. With over 500,000 pairs of boots and over 8,000 styles of jeans, shirts, hats, belts, jewelry and more, they offer the latest styles.

Boot Barn has grown to their third facility and are now moving to the adjacent building as they expand their marketplace throughout the US. CMH moved them from Anaheim to Irvine and then to Fontana. CMH has provided racking systems along the way, including selective pallet racking and push back. The last job was a large conveyor system and pallet flow that is helping them achieve more output within the same footprint.

Why Choose Catalina Material Handling:

Catalina Material Handling has provided and installed warehouse racking structures to many customers in the Southern California market and throughout the Unites States.  We understand that racking is one of the most significant financial buyouts and one of the more complex aspects of any warehouse move.  Catalina Material Handling approaches every opportunity of designing your facility as a collaborative effort, where we are learning about your distribution challenges and day to day requirements. Once we understand this, our team can explain and demonstrate solutions based on your budget and expectations.

The Desired Solution:

Boot Barn has worked with Catalina Material Handling on many projects.  On the most recent project, Boot Barn wanted a new rack layout in their warehouse and a new conveyor system to maximize efficiency.  Conveyor systems have been essential for maximizing product movement and facilitate material handling without the use of pallet jacks, carts, or other transportation methods.

The Situation/Issue:

Boot Barn’s existing racking was not suitable to meet customer demands.  As Boot Barn continued to grow, they needed to update their current layout while maximizing productivity. Their system was not keeping up with the increased demand.

The Results:

  • CMH added 50% more racking to the existing system and rest beam levels
  • Set up a pallet flow system allowing inbound pallets to be staged quickly for picking
  • High efficiencies were achieved including
    • More throughput
    • New labeling systems

The Desired Solution:

In the city of Smyrna, they trusted CMH’s experience and expertise through the permitting process. Because of rapid growth, in this area, many of the municipalities are developing and growing their code enforcement departments.

In 2018, BBB Industries acquired one of their competitors (REMY). By taking REMY on, they needed to move distribution from their middle Tennessee hub to an area more local to Nashville. BBB needed to consolidate two warehouses into one while maintaining their flow of business. While installing the rack, CMH brought in the city building department to sign off concurrently as racking was being installed.

The Results:

  • Storing 33,000 skus while also accounting for a 20% growth
  • Each bay is 12′ – 0″ W with 13 elevations, with wire deck on each level
  • Storage up to 29′ H and using narrow aisle order pickers to access the product

About Sika Corporation:

Sika Corporation is a distributor of specialty chemical products used primarily for roofing and protective coverings. They service construction and to industrial markets including transportation, marine, and automotive.

Catalina Material Handling provided consulting throughout their search for a building appropriate for their growing business. A facility in Chino, CA at 173,000 square feet, met Sika Corporation’s space and location needs as well as having the suitable suppression system and slab strength to store their commodity class and very heavy loads.

Why Choose Catalina Material Handling:

Catalina Material Handling has provided and installed warehouse racking structures to many customers in the Southern California market and throughout the Unites States. Catalina Material Handling approaches every opportunity of designing your facility as a collaborative effort, where we are learning about your distribution challenges and day to day requirements. Once we understand this, our team can explain and demonstrate solutions based on your budget and expectations.

The Desired Solution:

A portion of the items Sika Corporation wanted to store had very low flash points. This created an issue because of the amount of hazardous materials being stored exceeded the threshold for overhead ESFR fire suppression to meet fire code.

Sika Corporation contracted their building to construct an enclosed H-3 Occupancy Structure within the facility. Catalina Material Handling solved this by designing and building racks with horizontal barriers and in-rack sprinklers to meet fire code requirements for those high hazard liquid materials.

The Results:

  • Selective racking was designed to maximize the cubic space in a 32’ clear height warehouse.
  • Colors red and gold were selected to match their corporate building.
  • Accessory items such as column protection, fire extinguishers, and aisle signs were also provided.
  • Catalina Material Handling provided steel materials appropriate for their loads, professional installation, and managed the entire permitting process.
